Sports Facilities at Nanjing University
The Institute for International Students is equipped with a basketball court, which is provided for the use of international students free of charge. Nanyuan of Gulou Campus has tennis courts, and Beiyuan has an indoor swimming pool, exercise room, ping-pong room, and gymnastics room. All require regulated fees to use them.
Gulou Campus: The Institute for International Students has a basketball court,which is provided free of charge for foreign study-abroad students' and international exchange students' use. The southern half of campus has tennis courts, and the northern half has an indoor pool, weight room, ping-pong facilities, and an area for calisthenics. Fees are regulated by the university.
Xianlin Campus: The Xianlin Campus has already opened its basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts, as well as other sports facilities. The gym houses a ping-pong room, badminton room, weight room, as well as other facilities open to the community, some of which require fees for use.
Currently Nanjing University has three sports centers located on Gulou and Xianlin Campuses, which meet the needs for physical education, extra-curricular physical training, sports team training and large-scale sports events.
The first sports center is located on Gulou Campus. It includes:
1 athletic stadium (Suzhe Stadium), used for football and track-and-field events
1 indoor stadium, equipped with 2 indoor basketball courts, which can also be used as 2 volleyball courts
1 comprehensive natatorium (Lv Zhihe Natatorium), equipped with an indoor activity center, which can be used for table-tennis, taekwondo, gymnastics and aerobics and other sports activities
2 outdoor basketball courts, 4 outdoor volleyball courts and 2 tennis courts
The second sports center is located on Xianlin Campus. It includes:
1 athletic stadium (Weihua Stadium), used for football and track-and-field events
1 comprehensive gymnasium (Fang Zhaozhou Gymnasium)
1 natatorium
12 outdoor basketball courts and 4 outdoor volleyball courts
The main hall covers an area of 8,518 square meters and has an indoor basketball court, which meets the standard for holding international competitions. The adjacent hall, with an area of 5,200 square meters, is equipped with a volleyball section, a badminton section, a table-tennis section, a taekwondo section, a gymnastics section, a Wushu section, and a gym.
The third sports center is located in Group 4, Xianlin Campus. It is mainly for uses in teaching, scientific research and training, and it includes:
1 athletic stadium, used for football and track-and-field events
1 indoor stadium, equipped with 3 basketball courts, which can also be used as 4 volleyball courts
16 outdoor basketball courts, 6 outdoor volleyball courts, 4 beach volleyball courts, 8 tennis courts, and 1 football training field.
